Pace 2:4

(Editor's note:  I've tried to clarify some of the mission lingo for those of you not familiar with it but I've probably missed some!  Some of his lingo is just him---I'm sure you'll figure that part out!)

For all those who were interested in what missionary work looked like in the closest area to Times Square New York on New Years Eve, it's not that interesting. Just a regular day on the Mish for ya Boi. Pross (i.e. teac)  till 9 then went to bed at 10:30. My comp (companion) did have a glass of Martinelli's tho. Anywho this was a good week.

My comp and I got separated on the subways again (this is a different comp) I guess it just has to happen once every transfer.

We had a surprise musical number from two of our friends who showed up to church yesterday. As it was Fast Sunday (where members of the congregation can share their beliefs) they felt moved by the spirit to get up and share their testimony through music. They are amazing professional musicians, one plays the violin and the other plays the organ/piano. It was a song one of them wrote and was actually pretty reverent for sacrament, until the middle of the song 🤣 the middle sounded like the song playing in seven brides for seven brothers when they are raising the barn! (proud mamma moment that he knows this song!) .  We met with them afterwards and they played that song for us so we could record it. I would send it to you but the file would be way too big. Sorry not sorry.

Other stuff happened but I'm not planning on wasting my whole day typing so I'll end with a thought I had in PStudy (i.e. personal study). I was reading Alma 7. Obvi Alma 7: 11-13 is one that is read over and over but this time I noticed something that I never had before.

12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions

The Atonement of Jesus Christ has always been the ultimate act of love to me, but reading this made it sound to me like Jesus Christ only had to suffer for the pains and afflictions caused by sin. It says the spirit knoweth all things so the spirit would have known how to succor us already, but because Jesus Christ loves us so much he wanted to know how we felt himself, so he suffered for all our pains and all our afflictions. I don't know if that's what it means but it made me realize and appreciate so much  more how much Jesus Christ loves each of us!

Also completely unrelated, but it is the New Year and everybody should be making goals! As you make your goals remember the Savior grew in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man. But why? Everything he did was to fulfill his fathers purpose, so our goals should be no different. As you make your goals this year, think about how those goals will help you share the light of Christ with others!

I'm not mad at you, just disappointed 😔
Remember who you are and what you stand for👩
God made you special, and he loves you very much! 🍅🥒
