This is the worst lunch I ever had- Random old guy in Nacho Libre
This week was the most dog water trash week ever, there is no way of getting around it. Here is a couple more phrases I could use to describe it. "The big oof" "Mega unforch" "a fat rip"
It all started last Sunday. We went to church and some of our friends showed up which was nice especially our friend Noel. I met him in the parking lot two Saturdays ago and we set the goal, in the parking lot, for him to be baptized on the 3rd. He is super dope and he was really excited for his baptism. Then we had elders Quorum and it was so good! Our friends and recent converts were making great comments and the spirit was so strong. Afterwards we got to stay for a baptism the sisters were having and that was a really spiritual experience too! All our friends stayed and watched the baptism. After church we got a text from one of our friends saying that he was ready to be baptized! He is such a humble guy and we were so excited for him! Then later that night we were calling with another one of our friends and she said she was going to do everything she was definitely going to make it to church next wee so she could be baptized too! We were stoked.
Then Monday Elder Shumway and I went and bought bucket hats and a hoodie! Nothing could go wrong, we were on cloud 9!
Tuesday I went on an overnight exchange with my district leader and it was fun but during the exchange I started to feel pretty sick so that part wasn't ideal
Wednesday I was back in my own area and we had a lesson with our friend who told us he was finally ready to be baptized. He didn't look to good. Turns out he had Covid. We asked him what his symptoms were and they were the same ones I had. That was kind of rough but whatever we still had our lesson and went over the baptismal interview questions, he is so awesome and so ready for baptism but because of some unfortunate circumstances he won't be able to get baptized for a while and that was so heartbreaking. Later in the day though we had Noel's baptismal interview and he was so ready for baptism!
Thursday I tested positive for Covid and I was really sick. This was really stressful because we still had 2 baptisms to prepare for on Sunday. We were really hoping I could test negative Sunday morning so we could go to the baptismal service.
Friday we got word that the Bishop also had Covid, and the 1st counselor and his wife, and the stake president and his wife, and the ward clerk, and one of the sister missionaries but it was still ok because somehow the 2 baptisms were still going to happen because our other friend who was getting baptized had her baptismal interview and she kept saying how excited she was to get baptized on Sunday
Saturday we got a call from the APs and they told us that our stake president called our mission president and they were talking and eneded up deciding to cancel our baptisms. The stupid thing tho was they were still going to ha e an in person church service. So we had call our friends and tell them that they should go to church tomorrow but they couldn't be baptized. I was pretty mad but our friends are Saints so they were so nice about it and they were just concerned for the people in our ward who were sick. Then we spent the rest of the day confirming as many friends for church as we could and it looked like quite a few were going to show up. One of our recent converts told us he was bringing a friend of his who wanted to talk more with the missionaries so we were really excited.
Sunday morning we woke up and double confirmed our friends for church and we still had quite a bit of people that said they were for sure going to be there so we texted the members that weren't sick and had them reach out to our friends and they were going to take care of them at church. Then literally 20min before church started a text was sent into our ward council chat saying that the bishop and stake president decided to cancel church! I was so mad. We tried our best to call all our friends and let them know church was canceled but alot of them live 20-30min away so they were driving to church and didn't answer our call. We had 8 friends show up to church just so we could tell them to drive back home. The communication was so bad that multiple members showed up to church just to find out it was canceled. Then later that day we had to travel to Manhattan for my comps last interview. He decided that since he had never served in Manhattan he would ask President if we could stay in Manhattan that night and spend his last pday there. But president said no.
So pretty much this week sucked
